A major element of our work was about making a version of the British Museum dataset that's usable by more developers. This is the beginning of that.
We’ve converted all of the metadata from the British Museum collections into a flat-ish
JSON format that’s easy-to-understand and fast to index at the expense of data normalization.
You can access the same JSON data we’re using by appending
.json to the end of the URL of the page you’re on. There are also links to this at the bottom of each page.
From an individual object page we also link to the British Museum’s website and
RDF source if you want to find out more.
By the way, all the images you see are served directly from the British Museum. All our bashing might hurt it. Thanks to Barry Norton at the museum for your help.
