A bed-cover; appliquéd and embroidered (for the tourist market). Ground for centre field and outer border made of black (tabby) cotton cloth. Design has numerous animals placed roughly in rows: including two mice (?) wearing skirts; chickens and other birds; two snakes, a tortoise, monkey, elephant, horse, seated deer and a donkey. Small human figure bottom left. Across the top are the words: 'I'm Hmong Lady; I made on June 3rd [19]80 at refugee camp'. On lower right side are the words: 'A leader first', and lower middle 'I love you' enclosed in a heart-shaped motif. The outer border has larger sized animals, including cows, tigers, crocodiles, deer, an elephant, a winged horse, a man on an ox (?) and another man riding a horse, leading a tethered horse. All imagery embroidered in polychrome cotton yarns. Centre field and outer border have white borders (with green in centre). Inner border, separating two areas containing imagery, has geometric patterning, cross, 'X'-shaped motifs, with spirals at ends of each limb: polychrome patterning on a purple (tabby) cotton ground. Ground of outermost, undecorated border is also purple (tabby) cotton ground. Bed-cover lined with coarse natural cream tabby cotton ground. Unused.
